A home health nurse is a professional who provides medical care in the patient's own home. They monitor vital signs and check the patient's pain levels every day as prescribed by the doctor. For home care, a Licensed Personal Nurse is an option. Licensed practical nurses are qualified to provide many types of nursing care. They assist patients with daily activities like bathing and dressing. They also conduct health screenings that look for early signs or risk factors. Licensed practical nurses also provide care for patients in their homes, such as those with diabetes, cancer, or other chronic conditions.

A licensed home health aide

To be a licensed home health aide, applicants must have a high school diploma. They also need to be registered on the New York State Home Care Worker Registry. An additional year of experience is required in home care, along with basic English and math skills. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and must be certified in CPR and Basic Life Support. To prove that the applicant over 18 years old, a government-issued photograph ID must be submitted.


RN in a specialty Track

A variety of job titles are available to RNs working in the home care specialty track. Some nurses work in clinical settings. Others work as managers. In this latter role, they oversee nursing staff and manage patient care. A clinical nurse specialist could also specialize in rehabilitation, pain management, and mental health. A certificate of clinical nurse specialist is available to those who wish to further their profession.

Home health nurses offer a wide range of medical services for patients, including medication administration and monitoring of their condition. The home health nurse works closely with the family and other caregivers to provide personalized care.
